Pin Ren Toh at sunset in the mountains

Nice to meet you!

I'm Pin Ren, a Year 4 Computer Science student at the National University of Singapore (NUS), specializing in Artificial Intelligence.

I'm passionate about building practical AI systems and distributed infrastructure. I'm currently working on my Final Year Project exploring LLMs and databases, developing techniques to automatically generate SQL benchmarks.

I'm actively seeking full-time Software Engineering roles starting Summer 2026.

When I'm not coding, I enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new restaurants! I stay active through running and hiking, and love films and travel.

Experience

  • Software Engineer Intern @ Kipo AI

May 2025 - Aug 2025 | San Francisco, California, USA
Returned to Kipo AI to work on multimodal data extraction from complex technical documents. I focused on building systems that could understand tables, images, and graphs within datasheets, helping improve the accuracy of our part extraction pipeline.
  • Software Engineer Intern @ Kipo AI

Jan 2024 - Dec 2024 | San Francisco, California, USA
My first internship at Kipo AI involved building the core infrastructure for processing millions of technical datasheets. I worked on scraping, embedding, and querying systems using MongoDB and AWS, while integrating various LLMs to extract structured data from complex diagrams and technical documents.
  • Software Engineer @ Marymount Labs

    Jan 2023 - Oct 2023 | Singapore
At Marymount Labs, I worked on digital infrastructure for primary care clinics. I built an NLP assistant that could generate SQL queries from natural language, developed a vaccine recommendation system, and created an SMS follow-up system to improve patient engagement. I also helped deploy an Electronic health record system across multiple clinics to streamline their operations.
  • Teaching Assistant @ National University of Singapore

    Aug 2023 - Nov 2023 | Singapore
As a teaching assistant for CS1101S, I led weekly tutorials and mentored students in foundational programming concepts.
  • Product Management Intern @ Yindii

    May 2023 - Aug 2023 | Bangkok, Thailand
During my time with Yindii, I explored the intersection of tech, sustainability, and product. I worked on growth-focused features for their food rescue app.
  • Data Analyst @ i-CARE Primary Care Network

    Feb 2022 - Jun 2022 | Singapore
At i-CARE, I worked on automating patient data reports and building dashboards to support clinical decision-making. This was one of my first experiences using data to drive real-world healthcare decisions, and I got to see how simple tools could make a meaningful difference in patient care.
  • Assistant Software Engineer @ NEC Asia Pacific

    Nov 2021 - Jan 2022 | Singapore
My internship at NEC gave me early exposure to enterprise software development. I worked on developing encrypted web APIs for their CRM system.
